Do you remember that story about the Ukrainian soldier who gave the Russian cruiser Moskva the two finger salute accompanied by my favourite greeting: ‘Russian warship - GFY.’ Apparently that was turned into a Ukrainian postage stamp (sure to become a collectors’ item.)
It seems the Moskva’s captain took that greeting to heart. After a back and forth with the Kremlin, it seems that the Moskva set light to some of its ammunition - real GFY result.
Unfortunately and like most things in this war from the Russian side, the stunt went badly leading to the ship needing to be towed to port for urgent repairs.
Adding to their discomfiture, the weather was rough and stormy seas led to the Moskva ending up in a watery grave.
At least that’s kinda the Russian narrative.
So today, I thought I’d celebrate this incredible Russian PR coup by flexing my nascent modelling diorama skills by building the model shown above. I will be looking for hints and tips on creating the waves. This will be a fun but challenging build. I reckon it will take about the same amount of time it took for the Moskva to sink.
Once that’s done, I’ll be going for this model and diorama. The model comes from MiniArt - a firm that supplies fiendishly complex but incredibly detailed models. They’re based in Ukraine. Go figure. Again I’ll be taking advice on weathering the tractor to reflect it’s time in the field before being converted to submariner duties.
It’s Easter - yer welcome!!
Note: I clipped these images from pics that popped up in armour modelling forums to which I subscribe.
